Orchard Villa retirement long term care and retirement home had one of the worst outbreaks of COVID19 in the entire province of Ontario. 79 people died, and a further 150+ residents tested positive for the virus.
Lakeridge Health took over the leadership of the outbreak response on the 22nd of April, and A & O Contracting was given the responsibility to perform deep cleaning and disinfection to get the spread of infection under control.
We arrived on the scene on the 24th of April and quickly established a base of operations. Working alongside our environmental consultant and the management, we came up with procedures for infection control, disinfection, and testing. Procedures were also in place to protect the workers from contracting the disease. The surface cleanliness was verified using ATP luminescence testing. We successfully performed deep cleaning and disinfection in all the resident rooms and played a crucial role in bringing the spread of infection under control.
